ISLAMABAD: Police have declared a security alert in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi amid fears of protests against the arrest of PTI chairman, ARY News reported on Saturday.

A police spokesman said the Federal Police had increased security in Islamabad.

“All officers have been directed to remain in their respective areas and increase surveillance in all parts of the metropolis,” the police said.

The spokesperson added that traffic has returned to normal and people will report all incidents to the police on the 15th.

The Rawalpindi police are also on high alert with special instructions to the police to watch for possible protests by Pakistani groups. Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)

Security alerts were issued both inside and outside Adiala Jail. Police personnel have been deployed on the main roads of Rawalpindi.

The police officer ordered his subordinates to monitor the situation.

Former Prime Minister and President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) may be sent to Adiala Jail after he was arrested from his residence in Lahore’s Zaman Park, a police source said.

A spokesman said traffic was running as usual. If there is a violent incident, people must inform the police by June 15.
