Hwasa of the K-pop group MAMMOO has been charged with public obscenity by the Student Parents and Human Rights Protection Solidarity. On July 10, the Seongdong Police Station in Seoul claimed that they got a complaint about the idol.
In reaction to the police announcement, her agency P Nation issued a brief comment, adding, “We understand that the police are reviewing the case.”
On May 12, the singer and rapper performed at the Sungkyunkwan University Festival while filming Dancing Queens on the Road. During her performance of Don’t, she made a “suggestive” gesture, which prompted the Student Parents and Human Rights Protection Solidarity to submit a complaint.
They stated in the complaint that she made the audience uncomfortable and that the public felt “shame” since she made a gesture that did not even suit the setting of the performance.
This follows her surprising appearance at Gangnam Style artist PSY’s concert to officially announce her engagement with P Nation, the agency he created. PSY and Hwasa then signed the contract on stage, which was followed by a performance of her solo song Maria.
