
Election commission to hold general polls as per Constitution

PPP leader and former president Asif Ali Zardari has said that everyone should worry about the economy first instead of politics.
He remarked that the Election Commission of Pakistan will conduct general elections according to the Constitution.
In a statement, Asif Zardari said he and his party had full confidence in the chief election commissioner and all the members of the ECP.
He suggested that the caretaker government complete the SIFC projects as soon as possible and put the country on the path to development.
The country is passing through a severe economic crisis right now, he added.
Zardari further said that the election commission is bound to conduct fresh delimitation after a new census. The election commission will hold general elections as per the Constitution.
On Friday, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari bemoaned the ballooning inflation in the country.
Speaking to the media in Karachi, Mr Bhutto-Zardari said, “Right now the country is facing severe economic hardships. The people are facing poverty, inflation, and unemployment.”
He reiterated the demand for holding elections within 90 days. “If we win the elections, we will serve the masses.”
Recalling the events that transpired on May 9, the former minister said, “The culprits of the May 9 incidents have to be taught a lesson to avert any such events in the future.”
