
iPad, laptop smuggling bid foiled at Karachi airport

KARACHI: In a successful operation, customs officials foiled the smuggling of technology equipment worth millions and arrested four passengers at the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, ARY News reported on Friday.
According to details, customs officers intercepted four travelers – who had arrived in Karachi from Dubai via a private airline – and seized goods worth millions of rupees.
The arrested persons have been identified as Azhar Iqbal, Muhammad Faisal, Azhar Gill and Zul Noorain.
The passengers attempted to pass through the green channel without a goods declaration, with customs officials detaining all four passengers to check their luggage.
According to the shift – inspector Agha Najamuddin stated that more than 50 iPads, laptops, 46 latest iPhones and 500 packs of international cigarettes were recovered from the possession of the arrested persons.Additionally, the apprehended suspects failed to provide the customs workers with tax information, therefore the officials filed a complaint against the passenger.
