ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said in a statement that all political parties have agreed to hold general elections based on the new census data, ARY News reported on Friday.

The Election Commission made the announcement today after consultations with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) delegation.

She indicated that the Council of Common Interests unanimously approved the population census statistics for the year 2023, and all political parties agreed to conduct public polls based on the new census data.

At the consultative meeting, the PML-N delegation suggested completing the revision of the electoral list through the boundary delimitation process.

The political party suggested that the Committee hold consultations again on the issue of the Electoral Code of Conduct. They asked the European Commission to impose a ban on hate speech and to allow candidates to issue posters and posters only.

The European Central Bank has announced that it will finalize a code of conduct for elections after consulting with political parties. The commission indicated that the general elections are transparent and fair, as all political parties have equal opportunities.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Murtaza Solangi said yesterday that the government will hold general elections as per the timetable of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Speaking to the media, the minister said, “The elections will take place on the date announced by the Pakistani Election Commission.”

The minister affirmed his firm position: “We will adhere to the position of the Elections Commission, as we have no intention of revoking its powers.”

In accordance with Article 218(3) of the Constitution, he said, the caretaker government will support the European Commission in holding free, fair and transparent elections.
