The Punjab government will file bail cancellation appeals
The interim Punjab administration has decided to file petitions to have bail granted to persons implicated in high-profile cases relating to the May 9 violence revoked.
On Saturday, Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi presided over a high-level conference at the CM Office to examine the status of legal procedures against the troublemakers responsible for the May disturbance.
Naqvi expressed worry about the delay in identifying the 171 people implicated in arson and vandalism and directed that the process be accelerated.
He commanded that charges against all of the perpetrators be pursued professionally, and that attempts to discover and prosecute those who are on the run be continued.
The CM emphasised the significance of employing human intellect and technology to seek down the fugitives, as well as making the prosecution procedure more successful.
He said that the attacks, arson, looting, and vandalism were all planned in advance. He reiterated the government’s determination to bringing these terrorism cases to a just conclusion.
The Chief Secretary, Advocate General Punjab, Inspector General of Police, Additional Chief Secretaries, CCPO Lahore, Secretary Prosecution, Additional IG Special Branch, Additional IG CTD, Commissioner Lahore Division, Deputy Commissioner of Lahore, and other relevant officials attended the meeting. Sargodha, Gujranwala, and Rawalpindi commissioners and RPOs attended through video connection.
In addition, Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi toured several regions of the city to inspect the stormwater drainage operation. He examined the water drainage issue at Kalma Chowk Underpass, Garden Town, Gulberg, Liberty, Jail Road, Mozang, Qartaba Chowk, Shahra-i-Fatima Jinnah, and Lawrence Road.
