Temporary limitations have been imposed on major Moscow airport Vnukovo, with at least 14 aircraft redirected as a result of an alleged Ukrainian attack involving at least five drones, which the Russian Ministry of Defence claims it shot down. According to the mayor of Moscow, the restrictions were abolished at 8 a.m. local time.

The Russian capital was most recently attacked by eight Ukrainian drones in May, according to Russian troops.

Meanwhile, Russian shelling has claimed more lives on Ukrainian territory, with new casualties reported in Sumy and Kherson.

German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has reaffirmed that Kyiv cannot join NATO until the war on its territory is resolved.

In the shelling, which happened at 1:35 p.m., windows of multi-story buildings were damaged and automobiles were set on fire. Kharkiv regional governor Oleh Synehubov posted on the Telegram messaging service, “Kyiv time.”

Russia did not respond quickly, and CNBC was unable to independently verify the accusations.
