Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan will never again be a key player in national politics, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Friday. “He is a miscreant. He has brought obscenity into politics,” the minister told Geo News’ Shahzeb Khanzada as he lambasted the PTI leader for his tirade against the ruling coalition. he was ousted in a vote of no confidence last April, but he was able to backfire on the government.

But after the May 9 riots, when he was arrested and his party workers resorted to extreme violence, the authorities began cracking down on his party and dozens of leaders defected from the PTI.

Sanaullah claimed that if the PTI thinks its vote bank has increased after May 9, it is living in a fantasy. “People have seen their true colors. He is a ‘courage’ in the nation whose sole aim is to wreak havoc in the country.” When authorities began arresting PTI workers for their alleged involvement in vandalism, the party called it political victimization and Khan vowed to win the next election.

According to Sanaullah, the PTI leader was inciting hatred among the youth. “Now every sensible person is aware of his plans to spread chaos.” In the same programme, referring to PTI Chairman Parvez Elahi, he said that it was common practice to shift prisoners from jail to hospital if they were in pain.

PTI claimed that Elahi is sick and his rights are being denied. His wife says the same thing, saying the way Elahi was treated in prison is “very painful.” However, Sanaullah denied the allegations. He noted that the party had earlier leveled false allegations against the jail authorities for harassing PTI women workers, which the government and PTI women workers themselves denied.
