Bushra Bibi’s son, Buzdar face corruption case
Bushra Bibi’s Corruption cases have been filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Bushra’s wife Bibi Ibrahim Maneka, former Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar and six others in Lahore by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACE), Express News reported on Wednesday. According to ACE, the accused received bribes worth millions of rupees for the appointment and transfer of top officials in various government departments. The bribes were allegedly collected by Farah Gogi and deposited in various banks.
About Rs 450 crore has been recovered so far, ACE said in its FIR. The FIR stated that the accused abused the powers vested in them to appoint and transfer individuals to higher posts in the government.
Maneka, Buzdar, Gogi, senior bureaucrats Tahir Khurshid, Ahmed Aziz Tarar, Saleha Saeed, Usman Muazzam and Sohail Khwaja have been named in the case. Earlier this week, Buzdar, like other PTI supporters including Shireen Mazari and Ali Haider Zaidi, reportedly announced that he would quit PTI, as well as politics, after 9 May.
At a press conference, Buzdar condemned the vandalism witnessed on 9 May – when civilian and military facilities were attacked by angry protesters – and stressed that he had always supported the Pakistani army and continued to do so. The controversial former Punjab chief minister said he has always believed in politics of virtue and urged all stakeholders to put aside differences and work for the welfare of the country.
Several other PTI leaders have shed their positions in the beleaguered party, dumped it or quit politics altogether in the last month. “Whoever participated in the May 9 incident should be prosecuted,” he said, “but issuing an indictment against any PTI is unfair. “”PTI is the central party with vote banks in all four states,” he added, stressing that his party “does not support the May 9 thugs”.
