Aitzaz wonders why no audio leaks
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former Federal Minister Aitzaz Ahsan said on Tuesday that two women had spoken and their story went viral on social media but surprisingly, no voice against the PML-N has emerged.
Ahsan stated that the audio file attributed to him [Ahsan] was transferred from the gate of Bilawal House. “When that happens to me, the video has to come out. If there’s no video, the news producers have to correct themselves.”
Senior PPP leaders criticized the Punjab interim government. He said the role of the interim regulator was to remain neutral, but instead, the interim information minister went ahead with the judge who had acquitted PTI leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
Ahsan also opposed the military courts, saying the Supreme Court had held two cases where “according to our laws, the military courts cannot be held”. However, he suggested that the trial of the perpetrators of the May 9 violence be held in an anti-terrorism court.
Asked why political parties were asked to pass elections on the same day, the former minister replied: “There are constitutions and laws.” He asked the Chief Justice not to hesitate to give a date for the election.
Ahsan pointed out that there was no provision in the Constitution regarding same-day elections and added that the province could not be left without a government pending elections.
Talking about the prevailing political scenario, Ahsan believes that not all voters are removing Imran Khan. He also said that PML-N Organizing Chairperson Chairperson Maryam Nawaz will further increase Imran’s vote share. “Imran Khan has Maryam Nawaz to thank for that.”
He contended that Imran’s biggest mistake was leaving parliament and its 140 members in the National Assembly. “If those people had sat there [the National Assembly], today’s game would have been different,” he added.
He also said that Imran delayed in dissolving the Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assemblies. “The PML-N members are also playing big politics in this regard. The PML-N members made Imran feel bad for dissolving the meeting.”
