May 9 riots ‘planned at Zaman Park
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Friday said that the May 9 riot at Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore was not a planned attack. “It did not happen immediately. This is a horrible event organized in Zaman Park,” he said while addressing the PML-N youth convention in Vihari.
“Even the worst enemies of Pakistan could not do what Imran Nazis did.” He questioned why Imran’s “thugs” targeted the Corp commander’s house. “Many government buildings came on the way but no one attacked, they went directly to the Corps commander’s house,” he added.
Maryam said that Imran was not the only one who attacked the military base, adding that his “guides” were also on board. “I am saying this publicly that this is an open rebellion against the Pakistani army and Imran is the mastermind behind this act. “He said the process started when Imran removed General Asim Munir as DG ISI and replaced him with General Faiz Hameed .The PML-N leader said that Nawaz Sharif and his daughter do not believe in revenge but believe in “makafaat-e-amal” (Karma).
For the current fiscal year, the government aimed to generate Rs1.9 trillion in non-tax revenues.
The government faces challenges in finding innovative ways to increase tax collection, as internal politics hinder the implementation of recommendations from the Reform and Revenue Mobilization Commission (RRMC). According to the RRMC report, implementing five measures could generate an additional Rs635 billion in revenues during the next fiscal year. One of the recommended measures is ending the final tax regime for exporters, which could generate Rs300 billion in annual revenues for the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Currently, exporters are taxed under the Final Tax Regime and are exempt from FBR audits. The RRMC proposes bringing exporters under the normal tax regime by placing them under the Minimum Tax Regime.
