ISLAMABAD:A day before the PTI approached National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf for mass approval for his resignation, the process hit another snag on Tuesday when the party was forced to scrap the plan due to the President’s “indirectness”.The PTI has now decided to send a delegation of its senior leaders instead of a group of 127 MNAs – as planned earlier – to discuss the issue with the NA speaker when he returns to Islamabad, the NA spokesperson said in a statement.

On December 28 (today), the party was scheduled to visit the National Assembly to accept the MNA’s resignation. The lawmakers were scheduled to meet at the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad before leaving for the NA.In addition, PTI leader Imran Khan also released a video address to the lawmakers.In response to this development, PTI Vice President Fawad Chaudhry said the NA speaker would “run away” whenever party lawmakers wanted to secure his resignation.

Speaking to reporters in Lahore on the matter, his PTI leader said former PTI Chief of Staff Malik Aamir Dogar called Ashraf but he was “nowhere to be found”.”He was told the speaker had gone to Larkana,” Fawad claimed. “I have information that he will go to Australia later.”He further said that PTI must appeal to the Supreme Court if the differences are unacceptable.
