PTI ‘notices’ perceptible change in army’s approach
Lahore:SeniorPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry on Monday claimed that things have changed since General Asim Munir took charge of the Pakistan Army, adding that he was no longer receiving calls from anonymous numbers.Talking to a private news channel, the former information minister said PTI chairman Imran Khan was not blocked in the media, but there is some negativity. He added that earlier the establishment was the only force to be reckoned with but now “Even Imran Khan is becoming a reality”.He emphasized that the PTI wanted to agree with the establishment. He stated that during the tenure of PTI, Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and the Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) were informed three times that Imran would withdraw the messages sent to him.
But he [Imran] couldn’t even think about it. There were regular records, which was also a big deal. Whatever anyone proverbially said, it seemed like a conspiracy was in progress,” Fawad told reporters.Asked what to do if Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi gets upset over his remarks against General Qamar, Fawad said, “Imran Khan will not take Elahi’s orders now.”On another issue, he replied that there was no progress in the meeting between President Arif Alvi and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. “Their strategy is to disqualify Imran and file a criminal case against him. Then we have to postpone the election for a year,” he said.
He is sure that the elections will take place in April and that the elections in the country are getting closer.
Meanwhile, talking to reporters after a meeting of senior party leaders led by Imran Khan, Fawad said PTI will issue a white paper on the country’s finances, while the PTI leader called for a meeting of financial experts.According to him, PTI has formed working groups for fundamental reforms, which will prepare proposals for the country’s economy and governance. “PTI believes that after the removal of the current leaders, the country cannot come out of the quagmire without major reforms,” he said.”We have decided on the date of the Punjab Parliament Party meeting, which will be announced in time. All 187 of our MPs will attend the meeting,” he added.He said that some members of the PML-N DPR were interested in the allocation of PTI seats and were considering seats for which there were no candidates in PTI.
Earlier, while chairing a meeting of party top brass, Imran Khan expressed serious concern over the increasing incidents of terrorism across the country, especially in areas bordering the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.The chairman of the PTI emphasized that corrupt, dishonest and incompetent leaders are responsible for the economic chaos in this country, which has now failed to protect people’s lives and property.”Eight months ago, the country’s economy was stable and terrorism was almost over,” Imran said at the meeting. But now, he added, after the economic crisis there has been a sharp increase in terrorist incidents.Important issues such as the general political situation in the country, deteriorating economic conditions and increasing terrorism were discussed at length in the meeting. The PTI leadership also discussed the strategy for withdrawing DPR members from the DPR.
